Melodic Pop came after I listened to Pure Saturday - "Enough", and as the fact that I am a fans of Pure Saturday and Rocket Rockers. Both of them are the pionners of their genres in Indonesian independent music scene.
Pure Saturday has an Indie Pop influence that sounds like The Cure, Ride, My Bloody Valentine, and Wonder Stuff.
Rocket Rockers has a Melodic Punk influence that sounds like NOFX, Blink 182, and New Found Glory.

It mixed up to be "Melodic Pop", after Pure Saturday song "Enough" from their debut album "s/t Pure Saturday", 1996, is being covered by Rocket Rockers in their debut album "Soundtrack For Your Life", 2000.

Pure Saturday - Enough

This is the song that inspired me describe “Melodic Pop” to the mixed genre between Melodic Punk and Indie Pop. “Enough”, which is taken from Pure Saturday’s debut album in 1996 “s/t” has changed significant musicality in Indonesian independent music scene. Pure Saturday itself, who has an Indie Pop influence from bands like The Cure (their biggest influence), Ride, My Bloody Valentine, in which their era and their music scene are full of hardcore and metal bands, has a huge breakthrough in Bandung and Indonesian independent music scene. The album that is being sold out for 5000 copies from mail order has opened the eyes of Indonesian music industry to the independent music scene.

Pure Saturday itself has inspired a lot of Indie Pop band in Indonesia such as Mocca, The Milo, La Luna, Cherry Bombshell, Kubik, Ballads of the Cliche, and Whisper Desire. I hope this song could really meaningful to you listeners!

PL Fair, Batavia 2006: Meet Whisper Desire

<p style="text-align: left;" class="MsoNormal">Because camera and handy cam were not allowed entering PL
Fair 2006, I could just present you the report of the latest Pangudi Luhur High
School Fair, which themed Batavia (Jakarta Custom), December 2nd,
2006 by this piece of writing. I went to PL Fair 2006, at their school base at
Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta Selatan, because I just want to see two of my favorite
bands, which are <a href="http://www.myspace.com/homogenic">Homogenic</a> and <a href="http://www.myspace.com/whisperdesire">Whisper Desire</a>, and also to accompany, four of
my friends. I arrived at Pangudi Luhur High School at 4 PM, with four of my
friends, but unfortunately, I didn’t realize that Homogenic has performed
earlier in the afternoon, so we actually missed their show. I actually didn’t
know what are the musicians who were going to perform in PL Fair, except Nidji
(hehe..). So the band that I wait for its performance is Whisper Desire.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;" class="MsoNormal">I didn’t know why I just amazed with this band. After I saw

Dengan Kerasnya!

One of the greatest Melodic Punk albums in Bandung independent scene!

This EP is the second album of Buckskin Bugle, and published by My Own Deck Record Label. I got this album from my friend who went to Bandung in 2004. It’s truly worth because the album only cost Rp12.000.000, and contains four catchy songs that will integrate easily in our head. I could say that Buckskin Bugle is truly inspired by NOFX, Blink 182, and New Found Glory.

"Satu Anthem" as the first song really turns out our spirit and drives us to a happy mood. The lyrics are also very catchy and easy to remind. A great Melodic Punk song! “Sebait Kata”, as the second song, like the other melodic punk songs, tell us the story of a lonely guy who is thinking about his ex-girlfriend. Although, it has a sad lyric, but without forgetting the high content of musicality, Buckskin Bugle apparently did arrange the song to increase our spirit and not stay at the emo mood. Their additional guitarists, Iwan Turbo, are helpin...

Every extracurricular in our school were showing and promoting their activities and program by presenting their action in the main field of Sixty Six High School.

After the clock ticks to 10.00 in the morning, our Vice President for Sixty Six High School announced the student from the microphone that there will be an extracurricular promotion, and our school subject is being postponed until the next day. That’s a sign that we were officially “free” from school subjects at that day.
First Day At The New School Year!

We all now, today is 18 of July 2006, the day which every student in Indonesia are going back to school, continuing the next school year. I personally enter the XII class of senior high school in Sixty Six Senior High School, precisely in XII-IPS-III (Social III). I got the absent number 34 from total 35 students in my class, and I also have the same class again with my tablemate at the XI-IPS-I. I think this class is also dominant by girls rather than boys (13 boys and 22 girls) like the same class in XI-IPS-I. I think the friends are pretty good, and until I finished the school today, I haven’t felt any “distortion” at all.

Rocky, one of my classmates is chosen to be the chief of the class that we did it on voting. He only had 2 votes’ leading from my tablemate Romi. Now, Rocky is still arranging the hierarchy of the class and (I hope) he also preparing the future plans for the class. We also had a little short brake to make each person of my classmate, recognize each other. Well, I...

I found these lyrics in one of my notebook, which is covered with violet paper, when I was cleaning up my room, preparing for tomorrows new school year. I just realized that, this is the book that I used when I was at the orientation session when I enter Sixty Six Senior High School. The lyrics are sung when we were presenting our class in the main field.

Day three of the Class Meeting 2006! Today, there are Boys Futsal, Lari Berpasangan (running with a rope tightened up to each two persons group), and Girls Basketball.
